The Border Target Operating Model and new deadline for sanitary and phytosanitary checks

The British Government has today published the final version of the Border Target Operating Model (BTOM), containing the guidelines on the regime of general controls on goods arriving in the UK from third countries, including EU countries.

The UK Government has also announced new deadlines for the sanitary and phytosanitary checks:

  • 31 January 2024: introduction of health certification;
  • 30 April 2024: introduction of documentary and risk-based identity and physical checks;
  • 31 October 2024: requirement for Safety and Security declarations for imports into Great Britain from the EU or from other territories.
