Hi Folks!
Today we talk about an exciting piece of news about Social Commerce: a new partnership between TikTok (the Chinese video app giant) and Shopify (the top platform where to create user-friendly online stores).
But first. What’s Social Commerce?
Social Commerce is a successful combination of eCommerce and Social Media.
According to Wikipedia, Social Commerce is a subset of electronic commerce that involves social media, online media that supports social interaction, and user contributions to assist online buying and selling of products and services.
This means that people can buy products or services directly from social media and the entire shopping experience — from product discovery and research to the checkout process — can take place right on a social media platform.
TikTok has recently announced a partnership with Shopify which would help Shopify merchants “reach new audiences and drive sales on TikTok” (Blake Chandlee, TikTok’s vice-president for global business solutions).
Through this partnership, Shopify merchants will have the possibility to run and optimize their TikTok marketing campaigns directly from the Shopify dashboard.
They will be able to create content that turns their products into In-Feed video ads that will spread across the TikTok community.
Merchants will be able to choose the audiences of their campaign based on gender, age, user behaviour, and video category, and then track the campaign’s performance over time.
The new alliance, rolled out in the US, will be expanding to Europe and south-east Asia next year.
