London, UK – October 18, 2023 – The Italian Embassy in London played host to a remarkable football event on October 17, 2023, named ‘Italy-England, the European Derby.’ This event, organised in collaboration with Belluzzo International Partners and Trust and Wealth, and with the support of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK and the Embassy of Italy in London, paid tribute to the rich history of football between Italy and England.

The event, held just hours before the anticipated match between the Italian and English national teams, provided a platform to retrace the great football challenges between these two nations and highlight the value of their respective national championships.

Gabriele Gravina, President of the Italian Football Federation, took the stage to address the audience, reminiscing Italy’s triumphant victory in the European Championship in 2021. President Gravina addressed various crucial topics during his speech, including the assignment of the 2032 European Championships to Italy and Turkey. He also delved into the pressing issue of betting and gambling that has recently affected Italian football, particularly involving young footballers. Gravina asserted his commitment to addressing this issue firmly, including the possible application of sanctions, while also expressing his dedication to supporting and assisting the affected players.

The event wasn’t just about discussions; it was also an occasion of recognition and celebration. The awards ceremony honoured legendary figures in Italian football, including Fabio Capello, Gianfranco Zola, and Angelo Ogbonna, for their outstanding contributions to the Italian national team over the past 50 years. These football icons have not only brought glory to Italy but also to the hearts of their fans.

Alessandro Belluzzo, Founder Parter of Belluzzo International Partners, Trust and Wealth and President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce for the UK, emphasised the importance of athletes’ career management and highlighted the significance of professional support throughout an athlete’s journey – from their early stages to post-career life. He stressed the need for experts who can navigate the legal, fiscal, and property aspects of an athlete’s career so to reduce reputational risks that have become increasingly important in today’s world.
