Festa Italia Lancaster

You are welcome to the 4th Edition of Lancaster Festa Italia. This year the event will include nine days of activities from Saturday 21^st May to Sunday 29^th May with its conclusive celebration on the last Sunday of the month. 

This year, for the first time, Lancaster Festa Italia will host a Cinema Award for the best Italian Actor in fictions screened by the British television. The award will be assigned by the organiser Totally Local Lancaster and the online journal Cinemaitaliano. The award ceremony will be held on Friday 27^th May 2022, 3pm, at the Storey Lancaster Auditorium during Lancaster Festa Italia.

During the award ceremony, Alessio Vassallo will meet the public in Lancaster to present his role in the fiction “The Young Montalbano” and talk about his artistic career developed between cinema, television and theatre.  On Tuesday 24th May Lancaster’s “Grand” Theatre will host a show titled Tribute To Italy, a mix of classical music and ballet based on traditional and modern Italian music. During the nine days of Lancaster Festa Italia, “The Duke” cinema will screen Italian movies as Nanni Moretti’s Three Floors, Rome Open City, The Red Desert and Sergio Leone’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Lancaster’s pubs will run open mics and live Italian music on Thursday 26th May and on Saturday 28^th, while on Sunday 29^th Lancaster Castle will host two nights of Italian Opera exhibitions. The key Lancaster Festa Italia celebration will take place on Sunday 29th May: super cars as Ferrari, motorbikes as Ducati and Augusta and bikes as Lambretta and Vespa will be on display on Church Street. The main stage in the central square will host singers and dancers; while Italian street food and charcuterie stalls will populate the streets in Lancaster city centre. Moretti beer will have a dedicated space where guests can drink its famous Italian beer and the amazing Lancaster Castle will host the “Bambino Zone”, an area entirely dedicated to kids. Last but not least, Ancient Romans and gladiators’ challenges will animate the streets and a cooking zone with Italian food demonstrations will be part of Lancaster Festa Italia 2022.
